Bring Your Goodreads Reading List to Morph

Export Goodreads shelf, find books via library + Morph, and organize in reading lists. Read + get TTS narration.

What this is about

Goodreads is reading tracking (no actual reading). Morph is actual reading + TTS. Export your Goodreads list, import books into Morph, and start reading instead of tracking.

Goodreads users who want to actually read their lists. People interested in TTS-assisted reading. Anyone wanting reading app + social tracking combined.

What you’ll learn

  • · Export Goodreads shelf as CSV
  • · Parse the CSV to find your books
  • · Source books from libraries (Libby) and free sites
  • · Import books into Morph reading lists
  • · Organize Morph lists equivalent to Goodreads shelves

The playbook

  1. 1

    Export Your Goodreads Shelf

Go to goodreads.com → My Books → Your shelf (e.g., 'Want to Read'). At bottom, find 'Export this shelf' → Click → Save CSV to computer.

  2. 2

    Open CSV in Spreadsheet App

Open the CSV file in Google Sheets, Excel, or Numbers. You'll see columns: Title, Author, ISBN, Rating, Date Read, etc. This is your reading list.

  3. 3

Sort by Availability (Free vs Paid)

For each book: Search Project Gutenberg (free classics), Standard Ebooks (free literary), Libby (library app, free). Note which are available free. Prioritize free books.

  4. 4

For Library Books: Download via Libby

Download the free Libby app. Search for your Goodreads books. Borrow as EPUB. Download. These EPUBs are free, legal, no DRM issues.

  5. 5

    For Classics: Download from Gutenberg

Search gutenberg.org for books. Most classics are free. Download as EPUB. Saves cost and friction.

  6. 6

For Modern/Paid Books: Use Morph's Import

If you own books as EPUB or PDF: Import to Morph directly. If you own on Kindle/Audible: Source free/DRM-free alternatives or legally purchase DRM-free versions.

  7. 7

Create Morph Reading Lists Matching Goodreads Shelves

In Morph: For each Goodreads shelf (Want to Read, Currently Reading, Favorites), create equivalent Morph reading list. Name them identically.

  8. 8

    Batch Import Books into Morph

Open Morph app → Library → '+' → 'Import from Files'. Select all EPUB files you've downloaded. Morph imports them in batch.

  9. 9

Sort Imported Books into Reading Lists

In Morph: For each book, add it to the corresponding reading list (Want to Read list, etc.). Takes 5 minutes for 50 books.

  10. 10

    Enable TTS and Start Reading

Pick a book from your reading list → Enable TTS voice and speed → Test synced read-and-listen. This is beyond Goodreads capability: actually reading with narration.

Common mistakes

Assuming Goodreads books automatically appear in Morph—they don't

You must manually source books (library, Gutenberg, purchase) and import. Morph doesn't connect to Goodreads.

Not using Libby for library books—trying to buy books you can borrow free

Library books are free via Libby, available as EPUB, DRM-free. Check Libby first before purchasing.

Exporting only one Goodreads shelf—forgetting about other lists

Export multiple shelves (Want to Read, Read, Favorites) separately. Combine for complete migration.

Not prioritizing books during import—overwhelming yourself with 500-book list

Start with 'Want to Read' shelf, prioritize top 20-30 books. Migrate rest gradually.

Not testing TTS before committing to full migration

Import 2-3 books, test TTS quality and voice, verify synced reading feels good. Then batch-import rest.

Quick wins

  • Go to goodreads.com → My Books → Want to Read → Export this shelf
  • Download the CSV file
  • Open in Google Sheets or Excel
  • Search first 5 books on Libby (library app)
  • Download one EPUB from library
  • Import to Morph and test TTS

Morph Completes Goodreads: Tracking + Reading + Listening

Goodreads tracks books you want to read. Morph lets you actually read them with TTS narration, offline download, and cross-device sync. Export your Goodreads shelf, source books (free via library and Gutenberg), import to Morph's reading lists. Now your TBR pile becomes an actual reading tool. Synced read-and-listen makes finishing books 20-30% faster. Morph bridges Goodreads' tracking with actual reading.

Frequently asked

Can I import Goodreads data directly to Morph?+
No. Export as CSV, then manually source books and import to Morph. It's 15-30 minutes for a shelf of 50 books.
What's the easiest way to get books for my Goodreads list?+
1. Libby (library app) for free ebooks. 2. Project Gutenberg for classics. 3. If necessary, purchase DRM-free from Smashwords or indie authors.
How do I know if a book is available on Libby?+
Download Libby app, search for the book. If available, it shows 'Available Now' or a wait list. Click 'Borrow' and download EPUB.
Can I keep using Goodreads for tracking while reading in Morph?+
Yes. Mark books as 'Read' on Goodreads, read them in Morph. Different tools: Goodreads for social/tracking, Morph for actual reading.
What if I have 1000+ books on Goodreads?+
Start with 'Want to Read' shelf. Source the most accessible 20-30 books. Read them. Expand gradually. Don't try to migrate everything at once.
Do Goodreads ratings import to Morph?+
No. Morph focuses on reading, not ratings/reviews. You can rate in Morph separately if interested.
Is Libby free?+
Yes, 100% free with a library card (US/Canada). Most public libraries support it.
Can I use Morph's TTS on Goodreads books?+
Only if imported to Morph. Goodreads website doesn't have built-in TTS. This is Morph's added value.

Your whole library, read to you.

Bring your EPUBs, save the articles you meant to read, and listen with Morph's own voices — offline, on your phone.
